Research Interests
Since joining Laurentian University in 1990, after a 12 year career in the Canadian Mining Industry, my students and I have conducted research on a wide range of topics including: submarine volcanic processes and deposits, impact structures and breccias, hydrothermal alteration and fluid characteristics, volcanogenic massive sulphide (VMS) deposits, epithermal precious metal deposits, mesothermal gold deposits, Ni-Cu-PGE deposits, and diamonds across Canada and in ten countries.
My main research interests include: submarine eruption processes and their deposits, particularly water depth constraints on pyroclastic eruptions/deposits, volcanic subsidence structures and mechanisms, volcanic and magmatic controls on the location and formation of VMS deposits during the evolution of volcanic complexes and hydrothermal alteration, both ore related and seawater induced.
My current research areas include the Paleoproterozoic Flin Flon VMS district, Northern Manitoba and Saskatchewan, the Archean Abitibi Greenstone Belt of Ontario and Quebec, the Lau Basin and Tonga arc, and VMS deposits of the Late Devonian Jebilet and Guemassa terranes, Morocco.
